TERM THREE

What a busy term. We have just finished our T2F show and it was amazing. Everyone did such a wonderful job with their garments.
While we were preparing for the show we also had to think about our speeches. We have a variety of topics ranging from Fair trade chocolate, Women in Afghanistan, Smoking, Birth Order, Free Range Food, Animal Cruelty, Global Warming, Deforestation, Fossil Fuelling, Solar Powered Cars, Shark Fin Soup, Whaling and many more.
We also had Maths Week in Week 4, we did some really fun and challenging activities in the different classes. We had our Cross Country Finals on Friday and congratulations to Amaia who came 1st and Dominique who came 5th out of the Year 7 girls. Let's not forget our boys. Congratulations to Fraser who came 4th out of the Year 7 boys. Well done to the rest of the class who gave it a go.
We are now looking forward to Week 10 where we will be having our Annual Schools Arts Festival. We will keep you posted.

Term 2 reflection

This term we had a lot of fun with our Rich task, designing and making our Trash 2 fashion garments, and our sewing skills have improved heaps along the way. Every week we learn`t more on the subjects of:
  • Reading- Punctuation and plots.
  • Writing-Myth and legends writing.
  • Maths-Geometry
  • Spelling-lots more words.
For writing we had to write our own Myth or legend to go with our fashion garment.
One week we did Te Reo and learn`t about the Maori alphabet we really enjoyed it.
Last week we had our school social for year 7 and 8`s, the theme was fluro and bright colours lots of people brought glow sticks to sponsor the Group of people going on the Japan trip.
In week 10 we got another student in our class his name is Jain ( pronounced as JN) and he comes from Thailand our class is trying to support him because he does`t speak much English.

We have enjoyed this term lots and we hope the next term has just as much in store.

Circus challenge

A few weeks ago the circus challenge group came to Balmoral school, everyone had heaps of fun. We did 3 activities. The Spinning plates, the Spinning sticks and the Diablos. The diablos most people found the hardest and spinning sticks were the easiest.

Question of the week!

Why are there mostly women teachers?

Term 2

This term room 4 3/4`s Rich task is Trash 2 Fashion we have been having a whole load of fun. First we had to find someones discarded materials and make them into somthing useable and wearable. Then we had to transform an idea into a product we needed to go through the technological design process of design, make, evaluate and remake. And finally we are going to show our outfit that we have created in our own show with one of our group members as the model. Dates to be confirmed abou our very own Balmoral school Project Runway.
